Thanksgiving 2008

We had a 40+ crowd at Water Wheel barn for Thanksgivng. The combined families of Stan and Susie plus extra friends of Kate and Charles and Charles' family, too, enjoyed a huge variety of delicious food from appetizers to desserts. Later the atvs and golf cart went out for a ride to the creek to walk the rocks. Finley dipped her feet in the creek and ended up the day in her dress shoes and pant-less, but cute, none-the-less. I ended the day with really tired feet, but happy for the good time together.

Learning to blog

Well, I tried to add pictures of my pottery but wasn't successfull. Then I tried to edit the blog to reflect that. No Go !! I need my children to help me.

More Pottery

I've been making pottery in hopes of getting to show and sell at the Chattanooga Market- Christmas Market. I'm on the waiting list (40+ long). If I don't get to sell at the market, I may have to hold an open-house at the barn. I've tried to add some pictures but they aren't loading, must be too large.

"Cottages in the Clouds"

For those of you planing to visit the Chattanooga area and wanting to stay in unique lodging, I recommend our "Cottages in the Clouds". These are 5 log-sided cottages up on Lookout Mountain, a great get-away but not too far away. We are about 25 minutes from downtown Chattanooga and a short drive to the attractions on Lookout like Rock City, Ruby Falls, The Incline Railway, Cloudland Canyon State Park, Lookout Mtn Flight Park, and the Canyon Grill (great food). Chattanooga has much to offer- see http://www.chattanoogafun.com/ . Our cottages has either 3 or 4 bedrooms and 2 baths and are fully furnished. Here is a picture

Jack Daniels Wiskey Barrel Sinks

My wiskey barrel sinks came about from my love of wood-working and Jack Daniels. It seemed like a natural project to combine the two. These sinks can be used for vanities, in your bar area, or where ever you want that rustic but polished look. We can also make water fountain sinks for inside or outside (more rustic barrel), rain barrels, tables, the list is only limited by your imagination.

This is an 8" carved stoneware jug

This is a view of the beaten copper grape vine embossed sink.

Water Wheel Designs is the brain child of Stan and Susie Gravitt.  The design studio is located on Lookout Mtn, in north Georgia.  Currently, we have a large selection of hand thrown and built ceramic pieces available for purchase.  We have modified Jack Daniels whiskey barrels into bathroom vanities complete with copper bowl, copper trough faucets, and antique fittings.  There are also beautifully designed and built cedar picnic tables made with salvaged lumber.
